  • The Unistellar Odyssey Pro and Vaonis Vespera Pro are both premium smart telescopes newly released in 2024
  • The Unistellar Odyssey Pro is one of the few models that features an eyepiece for real-time viewing.
  • The Odyssey Pro also has the better telescope with higher aperture, longer focal length, and faster focal ratio. Plus with it you can take part in Citizen Astronomy projects.
  • The Vaonis Vespera Pro is cheaper, has the highest resolution camera of any smart telescope, a wider field of view, and it has the unique Mosaic Mode to automatically stitch together larger images.
  • The main decision point here is how much you want the eyepiece of the Odyssey Pro, as they are quite similar telescopes in other regards and this accounts for the price differential.

Why choose the Unistellar Odyssey Pro over the Vaonis Vespera Pro?

The Unistellar Odyssey Pro is a premium smart telescope from French manufacturer Unistellar released in 2024.

The main reasons to consider it over the Vaonis Vespera Pro are:

  • With all Unistellar models you can take part in Citizen Astronomy initiatives and join missions to track asteroids and hunt exoplanets.
  • Whilst very close, it is smaller and lighter than the Vespera Pro.

Vaonis Vespera Pro vs Unistellar Odyssey Pro: Verdict

These are two top-of-the-range smart telescopes that are brand new in 2024.

I think that if you are weighing up these two models then your decision should really come down to how much you would value the addition of the eyepiece on the Odyssey Pro. If this is a feature you think you’d want, and have the additional budget, then this is the model for you.

On the other hand, if you do not think you would get that much from the eyepiece then it would make sense to opt for the Vespera Pro, as they are a very close match otherwise.
