Vespera II vs Vespera Pro: 10 Second Summary

  • The Vespera II and Vespera Pro were both released in 2024 to replace the original Vaonis Vespera.
  • They use the same 50 mm aperture / 250 mm focal length telescope and are the same size, weight and appearance.
  • The Vespera Pro has a better camera with 12.5 megapixels, compared to 8.3 megapixels for the Vespera II.
  • The Vespera Pro also comes complete with a tripod, other accessories, and has built-in dew control. The Vespera II does not.
  • However, the Vespera Pro costs substantially more than the Vespera II.
  • We believe the Vespera II the best option for most since it’s hard to balance the difference in price with the difference in specs. However, if you have the budget the Vespera Pro is the better model.

Why choose the Vespera 2 over the Vespera Pro?

The Vaonis Vespera 2 is a compact, premium smart telescope from French manufacturer Vaonis that was released in 2024.

The main reason to consider it over the Vespera Pro is that it is cheaper. At the time of writing it is a little under half the retail price.

It uses the exact same telescope, and is the same size and weight overall.

In addition, it has a wider field of view and the pixel size on the camera’s sensor is bigger.

Why choose the Vespera Pro over the Vespera 2?

The Vaonis Vespera Pro is also a compact, premium smart telescope released in 2024.

The reasons to consider it over the Vespera II are:

  • It has a better camera that improves its imaging capacity.
  • It includes a tripod and other accessories like a hard case and lens cap
  • It features a built-in hygrometer for temperature and dew

There were some murmurings that only the Vespera Pro would allow you to use the Expert mode in the Singularlity app that enables you to capture calibration frames, but in fact the Vespera 2 has this as well.

Overall, the Vespera Pro is better, but is it better enough to justify the price?

Vespera Pro vs Vespera II: Verdict

We would recommend the Vespera II for most since the prices are so far apart but the specifications are really very close.

Just note though that it doesn’t come with a tripod – there is a review of the Vespera II on Amazon where the buyer is furious that no tripod was included.

If you have the budget and just want the best without having to worry about a tripod and other accessories then the Vespera Pro is undoubtedly the better model.
